I have been using Firefox for about 4 years now and I have tried hundreds of add-ons and over the years the best Add-on I have found is Drag De Go.
This Add-on is very easy to setup, and has many features, but the most used feature, at least for me, is the ability to open links on the go in new background tabs. This gives you the user, the ability to go down a list of search result links with ease, no more needing to click the link, read the page and hit back button, or no more needing to right click on the link and clicking open link in new tab. With this plugin you just left click on a link and drag and drop in a set direction and it opens up in a new tab automatically.
If you use the middle mouse button to open up new tabs, then you can just set up a different function for Drag De Go to execute, it has a long list of actions built in. Some of the other nice features that are invaluable is the ability to highlight a word, name, address, etc and left click and drag and it will open a new window to search for the text automatically. You can also set the Add-on to save an image simply by clicking and dragging on it, you can also set it to automatically save a picture, link, or text to a set folder. If an image is saved you can set it to download and save to a folder and it will rename the file if there is a duplicate and save it in the folder without any other actions besides the the initial drag and drop.

This extension allows you to execute several commands (like open a link,save a link,search selected text) by the direction you drag and drop. This extension identifies the Object you drag, such as Selected Text, Link, Image, or Extension File, and executes the set commands for each object.
This Add-on is literally a web surfers best friend, and it’s easy to setup and use.
For those who are interested in giving it try, here is install it and set it up (I am not affiliated with this add-on and nor do I receive any money from you downloading or using it.)
1. Download the Drag De Go Addon by clicking this link and going to Firefox Add-on Database
2. When you get to the page, click Install Now. You will see another screen pop up that looks like the image below this line, just click install now and then once it’s finished restart Firefox.
3. Setup Drag De Go by going to the Tools Menu then Drag De Go Options
4. Click on the Gestures Tab - You do not need to setup the other functions, the default settings are just fine. These are the settings I currently use, I have it set to open up links or search for highlighted text if I drag and drop to the right, and save a link, picture, or text if I drag and drop to the left. I use these same settings for the Link Tab, and Image tab. I do not have any settings for Add-on or Source.

Once you the gestures set, or if you have used your own preferences, just click Ok and you are all set to go. If you want to set the folder where Drag De Go will automatically save an image, text, or a link, just click the folders tab and set what folder or folders you would like to use.
