The equations that were being used to show the efficiency for the use of Biofuels are way to simplistic and didn’t factor in land use. When any type of land is destroyed, it not only releases more greenhouse gases, but we lose the natural sponges of the earth that soak up carbon emissions. Now if you are the type to jump to the conclusion that the natural sponges of the environment will be replaced by corps, you have just thought wrong. Corps as a whole do not absorb nearly enough carbons to even be in the same category as forest, grasslands, etc. But the number one factor against these types of corps is carbon expenditure for growing, harvesting, and then getting it to people to use.

Somehow in our haste to be "Green" we forgot the most important part of the equation, and that is just wrong. It’s almost as if we stopped to ask for directions to global warming and found a much faster way to get there. I did not write this post to be doom and gloom. But my thoughts are strong on this, corn Biofuels are not the answer.
There are many other biofuels, and if you want to really get into the discussion of this, there are much better technologies out there that we can use for energy. Hydrogen cars are still in development and I really don’t see them becoming a big thing for many years, if ever. Hydrogen cars are just more hyped up then any of the other technologies. Solar Power cars are new on the scene and will take a few years to work out the bugs. Pure Electric cars which are available, but not to the masses, at least not yet. If you have not watched the Death of the Electric Car, then I highly recommend it. If you really want to see a good show about fossil fuels with a great conclusion to other alternatives energy sources, then I recommend seeing the video at the bottom of this post.
In conclusion I really believe this needs to get more news coverage then it has. People need to be aware of the positive and negative of effects of what is deemed as a cure. On a positive Side note here is a piece from the original article.
