The reason I have chosen to start, Computer Optimizing in Layman Terms, with Ccleaner, is for one reason, it’s an amazing program, much like a nuke aimed at junk on your computer. The true name of this program is Crap Cleaner. It does just what the names says, it cleans up all the crap on your computer that a user accumulates automatically by just using the computer.

Did you realize that by turning on your computer, your operating system will have created several log files and temp files that are just junk that pile up, not to mention all the files that pile up when you open a program. By far the biggest culprit of unnecessary junk files, is going online and surfing around. I have seen some computers with millions of files just sitting in these temp areas, slowing down the computer and causing problems.

So on that note, lets begin with the first step – Installing Ccleaner

    1. Go to http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ and download the latest version of Ccleaner.
    2. Open up Ccleaner setup file, select the language you prefer and press ok.
    3. Press next on the Welcome screen
    4. Press I agree on the license agreement
    5. This screen is the destination path, unless you prefer to install it some where else, just press next on this screen
    6. Install options – I prefer to uncheck the last box, which is Add Ccleaner Yahoo Toolbar. I consider it to be unnecessary. After you have this press next

Using The program – The default settings are usually fine to use but I change mine a little bit, for one reason, I like being able to go to a website and be logged in. Not much for re entering my login information all the time.

    1. Now find the icon on the desktop or in your start menu and programs – Just look for Ccleaner

    2. The default settings are usually good to use. I make some changes and I have noted what they are in the following pictures

    3. Scroll Down on the page and check these settings.

    4. Click on the Applications Tab

    5. Click Run cleaner and let it work. This could take a long time if you have never cleaned out all the junk

    6. Now click on the Registry button on the left. I recommend not removing any of the checks.

    7. Click Fix Selected issues when it is done running.

    8. You can make a backup, and put the file some where if you want to. I always hit no on this screen.

    9. Click – Fix All Selected issues, and then click ok

    10. Click Close

That is all you have to do to use Ccleaner. Make sure to run it as often as possible. I run it usually every few days. I recommend cleaning out the cookies once a month, just check the box under internet explorer and firefox and run cleaner.

Wow very nice post thanks a lot for sharing :-0

  2. CCleaner is a freeware system optimization, privacy and cleaning tool. It removes unused files from your system – allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space.

    Hello Amy,

To answer your question, no Ccleaner will not affect your restore points, it doesn’t clean out the system volume information folder where the restore point information is saved at.

Another good tool to use with Ccleaner, is Glary Utilities, it is an easy program to use, and it does not interfere with restore points. Both Ccleaner and Glary programmers do a lot of work and testing to ensure that the files they remove and the junk the programs clean up don’t cause computer problems, so they are really safe to use.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi, easy read article, thanks.
I was wondering about something. If I install this ccleaner and have some type of an issue in the future that requires me to do a reboot from a previous restore point, will the ccleaner affect in restore point at all?
