I found a program that moves the metadata information from the back of the mp4 file to the front, so that the file will start playing instantly and stream on a website, instead of waiting to start until the entire video is downloaded. This program is really easy to use, and works extremely fast, all you have to do is open the program up in a Windows OS, open the folder the movie file sits in and press edit all files in the lower left, then wait for it to work, takes a minute or less of time, and then you are done. Now the metadata is at the front of the mp4 file and it will play instantly without having to download the entire video file.

In my opinion, the concept of this law is great, because I think people should move over for emergency vehicles that have their lights on, or if people are walking around on the side of the road such as cops, firefighters, rescue workers, etc. Several times I have seen people gawking at accidents and unconsciously start to steer their cars towards the direction they are looking at, which can result in serious accidents. I can say, without a doubt, that several emergency workers have been injured or killed by motorist who did move over for emergency vehicles.

But, I do not believe that people should get pulled over and given a fine by a cop hiding along the road with his lights on, on the back side of a hill waiting for people who are speeding. Several times I have seen police sitting in their car, with their lights on doing nothing, and if someone does not move over for them, they will issue a ticket.  It’s also not cool that by violating this law, you will not be issued a warning if you plead ignorant of the law, even though several people do not know about Scott’s law, they will still receive a ticket and a fine.

So a word of advice for drivers, move over a lane if possible if you see a cop sitting on the side of the road with or without lights on. If you don’t, chances are you will not be happy with the out come if you get pulled over.

There is currently a few emails going around about officers that have pulled over drivers and gave them a ticket, even when the cop didn’t have his emergency lights on. Some have even had their license suspended because they did not move over for cops without their lights on.

This is just a warning about something that happened to my friend Denise.

She was driving on I-88 in the right lane. She was not speeding. There was an Illinois Police car sitting in the right shoulder with the lights on. The officer was sitting in the car. There was no one pulled over. She continued in the right lane and passed him. She was immediately pulled over by the cop and cited for violating Scott’s law which I found is a law that requires you to move over (if possible) to the left lane if an emergency vehicle is on the side of the road.

She pleaded ignorance of the law but was given a ticket and was assigned a Mandatory court date for which she appeared. She spoke to the judge and he asked her if she wanted a trial. She said that she could not testify that she did not commit the violation but that she was unaware of the law.  She pleaded guilty and was fined $100.00. She thought that was it.

Two weeks later she received a notice from the Secretary of State that her license has been suspended for 3 months because of this violation. She spoke to the Secretary of State office as no one ever mentioned that she would lose her license. As expected, they did not care and asked if she wanted a hearing on the matter or a hearing to ask for a license to drive to work, and said she could expect a hearing date in about 3 months.

So after trying to open up two files and receiving this error, I head over to Google to do some research, and see what is causing this error. After a little while of looking around, I find a Microsoft page explaining how to fix it. The fix involves several registry changes to stop Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint from producing this error.

Well to make life easier for the next person that has this error message, and to avoid having to play around in the registry, which can cause some serious problems, I decided to make a registry patch that you just open up, and it will automatically add all the necessary registry entries in a few seconds for you.

Note: Make sure you have Microsoft Office closed before you open the file

Installation

1. Download the file for your Office version, and then open the downloaded file.
2. When asked if you are sure if you want to add the information, click yes.
3. Now you will no longer receive the error message about opening up documents in office.

After a while of looking through this list of popular plugins I start thinking to myself, "Why don’t more people know about the all in one database plugin that does everything you could possibly want with a Database without the need of installing multiple plugins to do the job."

So in attempt to save my visitors time and hassle, I would like to recommend WP-DBManger plugin.

WP-DBManager is a wordpress plugin I have been using for a few weeks now, and I am really impressed with all of the features if offers. My favorite feature of this plugin is the ability to configure a set time to optimize an entire database automatically. Just by using this feature you keep your tables in tip top condition for optimal speed, and it will avoid the dreaded Excessive CPU usage error that certain web hosts like to take websites down with.

This plugin will allows you to schedule automatic backups of a database, with the ability to make a backup on the server (Which I recommend), or email it to you. WP-DBManager includes the ability to restore from old backups that are saved on the server in the event you may need to bring your website back from a crash, or if you wish to go back to an older database for some reason or another. For advanced users that are more into database programming, Wp-DBmanager will allow you to empty/drop tables, run a Mysql Query, or delete a database entirely without needing to log into Database Admin / control panels.

My apologies about the long explaination of the very useful features, but as you can tell it does everything a wordpress blogger could want and more all by itself. It also gives you the ability to configure every automatic operation it performs right down to having the Database backup & optimize every minute if you needed it to, or by hour, days, and months.

So if you are tired of having to deal with multiple plugins and want to have a one stop Database plugin that does it all, then save some time and download this plugin.

I recently decided to try out maxblog ad stripe plugin on my website, but I noticed some annoyances right from the beginning that would not make my visitors very happy. Some visitors, I hope, would not mind the ad stripe at the top, but others would be really annoyed if they closed it, and then every time they clicked on a new article or refreshed the page, the ad stripe would appear again, in a relentless cycle.

In my opinion, this would not do because an annoyed visitor will not return, so I wanted to give my visitors the ability to keep the ad stripe up if they wanted, but if they closed the Ad Stripe, it would be gone and not bother them anymore. So with a little tinkering, and a lot of reading, I created a hybrid ad stripe that stays closed permentely and works with Wp-supercache. I would like to make this into a plugin, but I do not know at this time, so if someone wants to make a plugin for this code, please go right ahead.

Note: This Ad Stripe will not work with visitors that have cookies acceptance turned off, or if javascript is not allowed to run. The Ad Stripe ad will continue to appear on the website after they close it.

Installation Instuctions - With Downloaded Files

1. Download the Ad Stripe files, extract the files, and upload all the files to the root directory of your website.

If you wish to change the color scheme, open up msgbox.css and you will be able to edit the Ad stripe stylesheet to any color you wish.

Thats all there is to the install of this Hybrid Ad Stripe. If you want to get more use out of your Adstripe then I would recommend reading on.

Advanced Usage

To make the Ad Stripe scroll down the page with an visitor, open up the msgbox.css file and change .msgbox from position: absolute to position: fixed  . Now when a visitor scrolls down the page, the Ad stripe will follow along the top.

If you have a Wordpress Blog site, but you want to have different Ad Stripes or none at all on your articles then I recommend removing the above Ad Stripe code after the <body> tag in the header, and copying where you would like it to be.

For instance, if you want the Ad stripe to only appear on the front page, then paste the code anywhere in your Main Index Template File ( index.php).

If you want it to appear on all the articles listings, and not the front page, then Paste the code into your single.php file at the top.

If you want it to appear in only one article, then you should use your wordpress read more option, and then click the code / source button and paste the Ad Brite code right after the read more code.

You can also have the Ad Stripe code appear on a single page, just create / manage a page in wordpress and click code / source button and add the code at the top.
