So here it is 3:45am my time, and I have been scanning the news for awhile now and have found nothing of interest to write in depth about. So I have decided to write a brief over view of the day, nothing fancy, just some commentary about the lackluster day of February 15th.
I have found several articles about what’s going on in politics, but I try to stay out that arena, to many people already in it. In my opinion, I believe people who have no understanding about politics, write about politics, just to get traffic to their website or blog.
I did notice that Wal-Mart, and their other company Sam’sClub, are going to stop selling HD-DVD. So far I have seen article, after article, with nothing but fluff and wasted space. It never ceases to amaze me, how people can type 10 paragraphs on something that can be said 3 sentences or less. Here’s an example of how I would’ve wrote the article.
Wal-Mart which owns 4,000 stores, including Sam’s Club, stops selling HD-DVD, in favor of Blu-Ray. This is a result of Warner Brothers studio - Hollywood’s largest distributor of DVDs - pulling out of an alliance with Toshia’s HD-DVD and switching sides in the format war to Blue-ray. Outlook for HD-DVD looks bad, so for people who went out and purchased a HD-DVD player, good luck taking it back.
There, see how easy that was? No junk or fillers in it. Why can’t people do that. Maybe add a picture or two, most likely an animated gif, of a Wal-Mart store bouncing up and down, smashing a HD-DVD disc.
I also saw that Bush is planning to go on a Five Nation tour of Africa. He is trying to get approval for $ 30 Billion Dollars over the next 5 years, for his program to provide support and relief of people suffering from AID’s, malaria, and other diseases in Africa. It’s funny that United States gets all the credit for doing this, even though we are just getting another loan from China and then giving it to Africa.
The spy satellite that is falling, will cost between $40 to 60$ million dollars to shoot at and hopefully break it apart. Nothing much on this one, just wish I could ball park figures like the government does. I mean 20 million dollars give or take is a big difference. I wouldn’t be in business if I estimated figures like that.
$40 dollar coupon for people to switch from Analog to Digital, is nothing more than a bait and switch. Retail stores are telling people that the receivers will not work on their existing TV’s, and are trying to get people to buy new TV’s that have the receiver already built in. The catch is, that the $40 coupon that the government is handing out, is only for people buying just the receiver. Now come on, no complaining, we all know there’s always a catch when it comes to Government spending.
Sarcastic Example :
Press release - "Government to introduce new $50 billion dollar bill for schools!!" Now for the catch - 100 million dollars will go to schools, and 49.9 billion dollars for the war in Iraq.
To get one of these handy dandy $40 dollar government coupons go to http://www.dtv2009.gov. or call 1-888-DTV-2009 (1-888-388-2009).
So since news seems to lacking, I have decided to write some other How-To articles I have been putting off. There are 2 really good News articles I want to write, but the magazine that I want to quote from, has yet to give me a response back if it’s safe to do that. I don’t want to be sued for using more than 10 words from a magazine, or some stupid loophole, that could cause a lawsuit. But who knows, I might just write the article, because I really like what the scientist have to say. I guess I will see how defiant I get, as the day goes on….
