I was looking around the internet for some good money saving articles, and I found this relatively new blog site. Well my blog is newer than it is, but still I like one of the articles I read. It goes in to detail about using a credit card for 1000 dollars, and then the reasons why it is advantageous to get a 1000 dollar deductible for your car insurance. I have not tried this yet, but being young, a guy, and currently single, anything would be improvement on what I have to pay a month.
Here is an exert from the top part of the article
When you go to insure your car, the friendly Insurance agent asks, “if you have an accident, how much do you want to pay to repair your car $100 or $1,000?” The unsuspecting and unknowledgeable insured says $100 because they do not know how much that choice impacts the premium they will pay every single month or year. So the Insurance Agent writes a policy with a $100 deductible.
Read on and find out how you could have made a different choice.
Getting a low deductible could be a huge mistake and guarantees you will have to pay the highest possible premium for the life of the car. Always ask the Insurance agent what the premium would be if you got $500 or even $1,000 dollar deductible. Now I know this may initially concern you if you happen to have an accident and you must come up with $1,000 to get your car repaired. Read on and I will tell you how you can be “self insured” for that $1,000 deductible.
