So it appears that Verizon took the first step to now offer an unlimited minute plan for 99.99 a month. So to follow up and not lose customers, T-Mobile is now offering Unlimited Minutes AND Unlimited Text. Right now sprint has not decided to enter into the pricing war, but they are testing out a plan for 119.99 a month with Unlimited minutes, text, and Web Access.
This is awesome, I think more places should get into pricing wars, because it benefits the consumers. I don’t believe in generic pricing plans at every provider you go to, I also believe people should have the ability to make companies compete against each other. If the stores don’t want to wheel and deal then you can leave the store, walk next door to the other wireless provider and get a cheaper price. Now, I know this is going to cause some concerns among investors and board members who are used to getting maximum profit from something, but they really need to start thinking about the consumers. If you gouge the customer to where they have no money left and they go broke, then who wins? I’ve always believed in the economics of more customers at a lower price, then no customers at a higher price.
Chances are sprint will not offer a similar plan for awhile, if ever. They have had to many negatives against them, and it seems that they have taken the ostrich stand point, and put their heads in the ground and read the book selling less for more to many times. It would be nice if they would go back to their roots and become competitive again in the market and try to take care of customers. It seems now all they want is profit which will not get them very far in this day and age. So if they don’t jump on the band wagon soon, I can see their stocks tanking.
To bad T-mobile has such a bad service area around the United States, I would probably jump ship to them as a carrier because they do have good customer support. Verizon on the other hand, I get a headache dealing with them on the phone, and having people get mad at me because they can’t understand why I can’t understand them.
Well lets all hope for the price war!! It benefits the consumers and we need more of that in this economy if it’s going to survive and pick itself back up again. Now all they need to do is get rid of the early termination fees and all the consumers will be happy, at least I know I will be.
